Expected changes in CAT 2015
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. Afew changes are expected to happen in CAT Exam in 2015. This comes as a good news for non engineering students and women too.
The CAT test scores a person on the bases of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. CAT is in on 29th November 2015. NowCAT will be held in a single-day in two-sessions rather than on two-days in four sessions like last year.
Test pattern will be changed keeping in mind candidates from different backgrounds unbiased towards engineers. It used to change every 3 years but now every year you see pattern changing and new challenges emerging.
Weight age to each section will be rationalized making it unbiased towards engineers. This means CAT might give more weightage to topics which are neutral to engineers and non engineers.
90% of the batch at IIMs is Engineers, now IIMs have determined to change the scene and give more even weightage to non Engineers. This will give equal opportunity to all students.
CAT will be conducted in 115 centres this year, up from last year's 99 cities, to accommodate more students in a single day. This is a big move as in 2013 there were 40 slots, 2014 – 4 slots and now only 2 slots.
Normalization will not play a major role this, unlike CAT 2014 and 2013. This will be boon for the students as their raw scores and Ranks will not be drastically different as it used to happen in earlier years. Now female candidates would be allotted centres near their city to reduce travel time. More weightage would be given to logic based questions as well as critical reasoning.
